‘Starting Chance’ is a high integrity organization and registered charity in Cape Town, South Africa, focused exclusively on providing Early Childhood Development opportunities to under-privileged children in impoverished informal settlements.
The organization’s vision is to empower all children to avoid the education poverty trap: of inadequate school readiness and subsequent poor educational outcomes, caused by a lack of access to Early Childhood Development programs. It seeks to achieve this vision through a holistic model to empower local communities with education, training, resources, and administrative support to deliver early childhood development opportunities for local children in a sustainable way.

There are currently 25 schools enrolled in the Starting Chance program, growing at 4 – 6 schools per year. In order to enrol in the Starting Chance program, schools must meet several criteria including educational and environmental quality, financial management, and proof of land ownership.
